Chris Barnacoat (Barney) – Drums and Percussion

Chris is the most organised member of the band. He started his musical career playing the piano and reaching grade 5, but then decided a change of direction was needed.  He started his drumming career in 1994 playing big band jazz.  Here he continued for about 10 years whilst also playing in and out of various school rock bands.  Barney works as a graphic designer and his motivation is to record a full album in a studio and see it in music shops worldwide and being played on music stations and performing at large venues.  Barney’s diverse influences include the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Buddy Rich, Beastie Boys, The Prodigy and Jimi Hendrix.  As the rest of Gaucho, Barney would love to play at Glastonbury and also the Big Day Out gigs in Australia, as well as to perform at Wembley as it’s regarded as the best venue to play in the UK.
